Pet-friendly villa on ECR: a weekend guide for you and your dog

19 October 2026 · 3 min read

Yes, you can take your dog to a private pool villa on ECR. All three Villa De Aqua villas are pet-friendly: tell us when you book, and the charge is ₹1,000 per pet. This guide covers which villa suits which family, the house rules for pets, and what to pack for a calm weekend.

The short answer

  • Which villas allow pets? All three: Elite in Muttukadu, and Cascade Pool and Rainshower in Kuvathur.
  • What does it cost? ₹1,000 per pet, on top of the villa rate.
  • What do we need to do? Give prior notice when you book, so the caretaker can prepare.
  • Can pets swim? No. Pets are not allowed in the pool.

Why a whole villa works well with a dog

A hotel room or a shared resort means other guests, corridors and lifts. A private villa is different. Each of our villas is rented whole to one group, so there are no strangers on the lawn and no neighbours through the wall.

Every villa is walled and gated, with CCTV and a caretaker on the premises. That gives your dog room to move around the lawn while you keep an eye on the gate and the pool.

Which villa suits your group

  • [Elite, Muttukadu](/villas/elite-muttukadu): 4 BHK, sleeps 18. About 70 minutes from central Chennai, close to Muttukadu Boat House and the Blue Flag beach at Kovalam. A good pick if you want a shorter drive with a pet in the car.
  • [Rainshower, Kuvathur](/villas/rainshower-kuvathur): 3 BHK, sleeps 14. A sports lawn for volleyball and shuttle, plus a 4K projector and karaoke for the evening. About 800 m from the beach.
  • [Cascade Pool, Kuvathur](/villas/cascade-pool-kuvathur): 3 BHK, sleeps 12. A hammock-lined verandah facing the pool, table tennis and a shuttle court. About 800 m from the beach.

The two Kuvathur villas sit side by side, about 2 hours from central Chennai and within easy reach of Mahabalipuram.

House rules for pets

  • Tell us in advance. Pets are welcome with prior notice.
  • ₹1,000 per pet. This is added to your booking.
  • Not in the pool. This keeps the water clean for every guest who stays after you.
  • Supervise around the pool and gate. The grounds are walled, but the pool is unsupervised, so keep your dog in sight.
  • Quiet hours run from 11 PM to 7 AM for everyone, which suits most dogs too.

What to pack for your dog

  • Lead and collar with a name tag
  • Food and bowls for food and water
  • A familiar bed or blanket, so the new place smells like home
  • Old towels for muddy paws after a walk
  • Waste bags
  • Any regular medicines and your vet's number

ECR afternoons can be warm. Plan walks for early morning or evening, and keep fresh water and shade available on the lawn.

A simple two-day plan

  1. Day 1, afternoon. Check in from 2 PM. Let your dog explore the lawn on a lead first, then settle in.
  2. Day 1, evening. A BBQ on the lawn or home-style meals cooked by the caretaker-cum-chef on request (billed separately). See our experience packages.
  3. Day 2, morning. An early walk, breakfast, and a last swim for the humans.
  4. Day 2, noon. Check out by 12 noon.

Just want a day out? A day use booking gives you the villa and pool for the day, and the same pet rules apply. Our guide to day use or overnight helps you choose.

Prices at the time of writing

Rates are per villa, not per person. At the time of writing, weekday nights start at ₹15,000 (Cascade Pool), ₹16,000 (Rainshower) and ₹22,000 (Elite). The weekend rate applies to Saturday check-ins only. The full list is on our rates page, and the team confirms the final price when you book.
